Lucky's story
Lucky was found on the streets of Oakleigh after 30 hours of constant rain in Melbourne
(Thursday 3 February, 2005).

She was found huddled next to a fence on the nature strip, cold, wet, scared and injured.
When picked up she screamed from fright, bit into Karen's arm and then urinated in
distress.

When taken home, she was obviously terrified and showed no signs of any previous
pleasant contact with humans. If a hand was put near her head she cowered to the ground
and shut her eyes as if expecting a blow.

Within five days she showed signs of being pregnant and sure enough gave birth the
following day after lining a nest with hay and fur.
Her fur was dirty but on closer viewing, it was actually urine coated (it's taken
months, but she's now white again!). Lucky must have been in a situation
where she was being sprayed constantly by a male bunny.

All shelters in the area and local vets were notified but there was not one
report of a missing bunny so we are happy to say she will not be returned to
her previous home and will live with us at BOING.

Lucky had a few minor
facial injuries but they
have now healed
Here's the kids at 3 weeks of age!!!
